After a busy week in the practice, I was relaxing at home one Friday night when this message pinged into my inbox. It was the findings of a new survey into smartphone data usage and myopic children and young adults.
The Centre for Eye Research Ireland (CERI) used smartphone data usage as a measure of screen time and found that myopic children and young adults used almost twice as much data as non-myopes. Not only were the myopes unaware of the additional data usage, but only 31% of them made the connection between increased screen time and myopia.
Read the full report here – it’s very interesting.
