Introducing Sea2see – a range of frames from recycled ocean plastics

Updated: May 19, 2022

We’re delighted to stock a range of handmade spectacle frames that are produced from ocean waste in both Woodseats and Crosspool.

Sea2see’ optical frames and sunglasses are made entirely with recycled marine plastic waste that is collected in collaboration with thousands of fishermen in Spanish ports.

Talking about the innovative range, Alex said: “The waste, including fishing nets, ropes, lines, or bottles, is then up-cycled into a reusable raw material: UPSEA PLAST Cradle to Cradle Gold Certified. This material is shipped to Italy to be moulded into frames, with each one being coloured by hand, making no two frames exactly the same.”

A selection of Sea2see’s spectacle frames are available at both practices and cost £150.

“It’s great to be able to give our patients the option of a stylish frame that doesn’t cost the earth, in more ways than one,” concludes Alex, who was the first in his team to invest in a pair.

Our other environmental initiatives include recycling contact lenses, green energy to power the practices, paper reduction and LED lightbulbs. Alex also cycles to work on his e bike in a bid to reduce his carbon emissions.
